I just want you to set it aside and love yourself

I posted what follows to a group of transwomen:

I hope today finds you well and you feel a little more feminine and a little more at home as a woman.

I hope you take things less personally, and become skilled at picking your battles. Reserve energy for those who are truly worth it.

I hope you refrain from wanting to tear yourself down because you see it now too. The glow burning ever so slightly brighter in your heart. One less time to tell yourself in frustration “what’s wrong with me.” Nothing is wrong with you honey, it’s time to love yourself.

I hope you will listen to your inside voice as though you were a close friend who never left your side. If they could hear you out, so can you.

I want you with your weary heavy hearts to find peace and hope. I hope you find love where there was hate and cherish it.

I want you to put your arms down and listen, you deserve love. I don’t care who you are, whatever it is you’re saying “they shouldn’t love me” set it down. Whatever it is that you think you’re bad at, we all struggle in life. Please give yourself a chance.

I want you to listen to the quiet voice that you usually can’t hear because the louder ones dominate. Don’t listen to the voice that’s mad and enraged, listen to the calm gentle voice who is calm and collected.

All I want is for you to reconsider and consider this instead. Give yourself a chance, another chance if you have to. Think maybe I should listen to my voice and reconsider the mean things it’s saying or repeating. It’s not fair to hold on to destructive words. Let them go. They aren’t yours to keep.

I love you. I believe in you. The road you’ve chosen is not an easy road to travel.
