Work: Promotion

I recently got promoted. I’m dropping my “training wheels” and dropping the “Associate” from my title and becoming an (Intermediate) Application Developer!

The email went out yesterday (4/5) and I got several congratulations from it (11 if we’re keeping track).

For the promotion they disguised the meeting as a “touch point” as though they were checking up on the status of my work. My boss was there and her boss too and we were waiting for someone else to join. My boss’s boss–I had worked with her during one of the projects and she was like a surrogate team manager for me. I like her and was just happy to see her on the call that I forgot like hey this is your boss and your boss’s boss. She was like “don’t worry nothing bad” about the meeting. That’s when I remembered those weird things on Friday that I had to re-acknowledge on our hr site. One in particular stood out, : Promotion. I figured it must be a glitch in the system. Anyway makes me think of angels when they encounter humans the first thing they say is “Do not be afraid.”

The one person we were waiting for turned out to be my boss’s boss’s boss so I felt touched that he felt that it was that important that he needed to bring me the news. We had met at a few Christmas parties and at the office every once in a while. I know we had a meeting at one point and we talked for a while. I don’t remember talking about anything terribly important. He seems really down to earth and respectable. I think because he was a developer. Maybe there’s a silent understanding among developers?

Anyway I’m excited to take on my new role, even if it’s “just an upgraded version” of my current one.
